Saw this on the side of a grocery delivery truck this morning:

"Driver does not carry cash.
only cashews"

*giggle*

cheers!

"Mom, did you know warm beer tastes like carbonated piss?"

It only took three days before he was trying beer. Aww. I'm so proud.

moving day!

Everything fit in the car...

...including the Turkey (even though it looks like he was going to be strapped to the roof or something, he rode shotgun the entire way)!

We were both giddy Saturday morning when the Moment arrived and we were on our way to campus. The Turkey was teasing me that I would cry like I did at his graduation and we were laughing a lot. (For the record, I didn't cry at graduation. Nope. It was more like a hurricane of tears. I had dry skin on my cheeks for a week!) We chatted the entire way to campus.

Once there we efficiently got the car unpacked and everything in his room, hooked up his cable TV, put clothes in the closet, and then headed up to the bookstore to pick up his books. We made a couple of other stops throughout the morning and then got cold beverages, did "cheers" with 32 oz. soft drinks from Royal Farms, and I left. It was easy. It was probably easy because I had to go back the next day with a few more items (book shelf, bike, light bulbs, etc.) so it wasn't like I was leaving him in Kalamazoo by himself or anything.

Not that there's anything wrong with Kalamazoo!

But I saw him again on Sunday and we did a few more things, and once again I left without crying. It's been 48 hours now since I left him on campus for the first time and still no tears. I keep hearing of other parents who drop off their kids at school and cry buckets for days. Not me. Am I really that odd?  Dunno, but I'm heading out for happy hour with my peeps so I'll catch ya later, gators! :-)

tomorrow

To the tune of "Tomorrow" from Annie:

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom tuition dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun!

Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clear away the boxes
And the laundry
'Til there's none!

Tomorrow! Tomorrow!
I love ya Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A-way!

Tomorrow's our big day -- MOVING DAY! The Turkey is busily packing and organizing. I help from time to time (more like giving direction) and then I quietly exit and leave him to his stuff for a while. I usually come back with folded laundry or a cold beverage so he'll think I'm the coolest mom ever. Evah!

Tomorrow at this time I will be in this house by myself. Unless he wants me to take him out to dinner or something. ;-)

in five days

The turkey flies the coop in five days.

In five days my only turkey will be moving in to his apartment on campus.

I will have an empty nest in five days.

Five days, y'all! FIVE. Count 'em -- one, two, three, four, five!

That's right -- this coop will be devoid of daily teenage messifying in a scant five days. (Messifying? Is that a word? Yoobetcha! In bloggerland "messifying" is definitely a word!) We are busy with packing and organizing and figuring out what gets moved and what doesn't, last-minute discussions on subjects like monthly budgets and how to plan meals for the week, debates on whether or not we pack things like toilet paper and cleaning supplies or buy them there, and the all-important discussion of just how to pack everything so as to allow for the most efficient move-in process.

Exciting, eh?

Five days.

I'll be living solo again ... in five days.

The turkey will start on a grand adventure ... in five days.

It's going to be a blast watching him become an independent adult.

The adventure begins in five days!

ceramic goodies

I know I've been absent for a while. I know you are unaware of my persistent thoughts about coming back to the blog this fall. (For reals, y'all!) I know you might have missed me. And I know I've been MIA way too long. But now I'm Back!

What's that song? "but now I'm back ... from outer space ... and you...." la la la la la.  (I just looked it up. Donna Summer. I will survive. Truly.)

Anywho. In my summer travels this year I once again searched high and low for interesting and unique coffee mugs. They weren't especially prominent in the various locales where I visited but then I ran across this on Pinterest:

Ohmygoodnessgracious. There are some gorgeous pieces in this mix. Let me know your favorites.

And let me know if you find any places with unique and interesting hand crafted mugs!
